Non executive director, Dominic McVey impacts Davos 2020
London, United Kingdom – 30 January 2019 – Dominic McVey, Non-Executive Director of Accloud, attended and contributed to several events at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Over the course of the week, Dominic was a key contributor to numerous discussions around the innovations that are addressing some of the world’s biggest problems and driving sustainable development on a global scale. As an active investor and successful entrepreneur, having built sustainable businesses across several emerging markets, Dominic was well placed to contribute to the discourse at Davos.
He was a key contributor to a high-level roundtable discussion hosted by the Overseas Development Institute in partnership with the Ikea Foundation. Titled “Ethiopia on the Rise”, the discussion comprised government and industry leaders from the region and beyond, sharing their views on how to create better education and employment opportunities in the country.
Dominic also hosted Uhuru Kenyatta, President of Kenya, during the UK Africa Investment Summit. Building upon the relationship, Dominic has kept in contact with the office of the president and plans to meet with ambassadors in the coming weeks to expand his work in sustainable development in Africa.
Dominic said: “As always, the insights gleaned at Davos were compelling. Investors and entrepreneurs around the world need to double their efforts to create positive social impact where it is needed most. Accloud is an excellent example of such efforts, bringing a simple technology solution to underserved SMEs that form the backbone of one of the largest growing economies in the world. Reflecting on the conversations that were had over the course of the week, I am inspired to drive my sustainable enterprises, and Accloud, to the next level.”
